Hebdo Ecolo: Picking up one cigarette butt at a time to change the world

Who would have thought that a single cigarette butt could pollute 500 liters of water? At Hebdo Écolo, we know all about it. And above all, we take action.

Hebdo Ecolo : Ramasser un mégot à la fois pour changer le monde | What The Web

For several years now, Hebdo Écolo has been rallying thousands of volunteers across Europe around a clear objective: to combat urban pollution, butt by butt. Their actions? Collective collections, awareness-raising workshops, webinars and even lobbying of elected representatives. At the same time, their participatory media allows anyone to take up pen, microphone or camera to alert, document and propose ecological solutions.

Ecology as a social bond

Hebdo Écolo is more than just a clean-up operation: it's an inclusive, joyful and committed citizens' movement. Its actions create links, strengthen ecological awareness and make each participant a player in the transition. From Paris to Berlin, Grenoble to Barcelona, the "butt-pickers" are weaving a European network as motivated as it is improbable.

Educate, inform, transform

Their secret? Rely as much on awareness-raising in schools as on commitment in the field. Their conviction: "One child who is made aware is two parents who are involved. The result: activities in schools, high schools and universities, as well as in neighborhoods, festivals and businesses. Because ecology can be learned not only online, but also in boots on the street.

Recycled cigarette butts, recyclable ideas

What about cigarette butts? They don't end up in the garbage can. They're recycled into street furniture, proving that even the most polluting waste can find a useful second life. An approach that perfectly embodies the spirit of Hebdo Écolo: doing better with what we have, together.

The mystery association... to be followed very closely

Hebdo Écolo doesn't just clean up. It's changing attitudes through the collection of cigarette butts, open discussions and concrete projects. If you want to get involved in a way that doesn't get in your head, but has a real impact, now might be the time to join the community of ecological progress.
