Redesigning your website: where to start?
Before you change everything on the spur of the moment, we'd like to share with you the really good questions to ask yourself to get off to a good start.
We want something new, but we're not sure where to start
The home page no longer reflects your values. Navigation seems cumbersome. Or worse: nobody knows how to update the site. It's decided: you're going to redo the whole thing. But how do you go about it, when you're a committed organization, not a web agency? Spoiler: you don't need to have all the answers. Just ask the right questions.
Clarify intention before pressing reset
Before throwing everything out, we start by observing. What's no longer working? What's blocking you? Is it a problem of image, structure, visibility, content... or all of the above? This reflection is your compass. It allows you to set a clear objective: to make the site more accessible, to promote a new offer, to simplify updates... It's from there that we'll be able to design a tailor-made solution.
Sorting without throwing out what works
Every site has a history. And often plenty of content tucked away in a corner. Now's the time to review it all. Some pages need updating, others may have disappeared, and a few nuggets could do with being brought to the fore. This sorting out isn't a chore, it's an opportunity to reconnect your site with your current project. What you've become, what you're wearing today.
Imagine a simpler, livelier structure
A successful redesign isn't necessarily a site with 20 new pages. It's often the opposite: a clearer, tighter, more readable site. Fluid navigation. A visual identity that reflects you. Highlighted actions. A site that's easy to read on a cell phone. And above all: one that makes you want to come back. That's when we start thinking about design, tone and information hierarchy. Building on what you already have... but daring to rethink it all.
Think in terms of use, not just rendering
A website isn't a static showcase. It's a living tool. So before you even think about the layout, ask yourself: who's going to bring it to life? What information will change? Which sections will be updated regularly? Do you want to write articles? Put up a calendar? Create a membership form? A redesign is also an opportunity to simplify your daily life. And make you more autonomous.
In short: you don't just redo a site, you refocus your compass.
A good site is one that looks like you today, not the one you were 5 years ago. It's a useful site for your team, for your partners, for the people who are looking for you. Above all, it's an opportunity to take stock, to step back, to start afresh. And if you don't know how: that's what we're here for.
