Do you really need a website when you already have Insta and LinkedIn?

It's free, it's easy to use, it's where people are. So why bother creating a site? Spoiler: because it's not the same thing.

Faut-il vraiment un site quand on a déjà Insta et LinkedIn ? | What The Web

Social networks ≠ website

Social networks are fantastic visibility tools. You can share news, create a community, unite around values, generate commitment...

But they will never replace a website. But why? Because a site is your home.
On Insta or LinkedIn, you're at Meta or Microsoft. Their rules, their algorithms, their limits. Your visibility fluctuates, your content is ephemeral, and above all: you're never really in control of your image.

The site is your rear base

A good website allows you to lay the foundations of your communication:

  • a clear presentation of who you are,

  • a stable, up-to-date structure,

  • a space to organize your content,

  • links to your concrete actions, your tools, your networks, your calls for support...

This is where we send people when they want to find out more, sign up, donate, contact you, or work with you.
It's your center of gravity.

Insta shows, the site reassures

On Instagram, we see smiles, videos and beauty.
On LinkedIn, news, thoughts, announcements.

But where's the substance? The project? The commitments? The partners? The terms of support? The clear storytelling of your mission? Your website is the place to do it.

To convince an elected official, a foundation, a journalist, a partner... a well thought-out site has ten times more impact than an Insta feed, no matter how stylish.

And what's more, it's all connected

Your site isn' t an island.
It can display your Insta news, embed your videos, integrate a newsletter, payment, forms and up-to-date content. It communicates with your networks and tools.

It's a hub.
And in an EHS communication strategy, this is essential if you don't want to lose your audience along the way.

Social networks: the appetizer. The website: the main course.

Use Insta, LinkedIn or TikTok to create excitement.
But provide a solid place to take action.
A website isn't a gadget. It's the foundation of your professional communication.
Accessible, durable, modular... and above all: in your image.
